How many people could you cope with?
We have a cap on 60 people per day, however the museum in the old chapel cannot cope with that number of people and I would say can comfortably cope with 20-25 people in one sitting. The HAS area can cope with more people, due to being outdoors.
Can you (and the Wattisham Airfield people) cope with a small convoy of vehicles that may not arrive all together, but would be given a timed arrival?
Yes, this is something we do most weekends. Depending on the car numbers, we can break up the convoys, to avoid them becoming disjointed across the site and we usually have a convoy leader and a ‘tail-end charlie’, if needed we’ll pop someone in between.
How long should we allow for a meaningful visit?
We recommend 2 hours for a standard visit, to take in any talks that may be presented on the day, to peruse the museum, drive across to the HAS and view the planes and have photo opportunities. But if you think you may need a little longer, please just let us know, so we can ensure we have volunteers.
Are there likely to be any security procedures we would need to follow – such as names/addresses of our Group, Car Registration Numbers etc?
Yes, we will ask you to fill in a spreadsheet with details on it. Name, town living, nationality, car reg, car make, car colour. We need this at least a week in advance to enable us to process it, and get it to the gatehouse on camp. Everyone will need a photo ID, for example driving licence or passport. You will have to meet whatever the protocols are on the day, depending on the security status. The usual is to meet at the gate and one of volunteers will check you in and point you to our car park, however, depending on the status of camp, you may be asked to individually sign in at the gatehouse, we will not know for certain until the day, but this is something we deal with each open day, so we will get you all in as swiftly as possible. It is a big help to us if everyone arrives at the same time, then we can get you all in quickly.
Is there any entry fee?….. Or are you happy for the visitors to give you donations on the day?
We rely solely on donations, we do not charge entry, but really welcome donations, by cash, card or QR code. We do also have some merchandise for sale along with teas, coffees, soft drinks and biscuits.
