Sunday 6th February 2025 saw a very poignant event take place in London.
Two of the Royal Air Force’s premier fighter squadrons were having their Standards laid up for good at Royal Air Force St. Clement Danes Church.
74 (F) Squadron and 111 (F) Squadron had both spent a significant period of time at Wattisham, and representatives from Wattisham Station Heritage made the journey down to London to observe these historic proceedings.

There was a very good turnout of personnel that had served with both these iconic Fighter Squadrons, and due respect was paid at the Laying Up of the Standards.
This service means that neither of these 74 Squadron or 111 Squadron standards will ever be used again as the Standards are now in “safe lodging in the House of God until such a time it shall pass to dust…“
