Squadron Motto: “Impiger et Acer” (Energetic and Keen)
29 Squadron was formed on 7th November 1915 within the Royal Flying Corps, and went on to be awarded numerous Battle Honours during both World Wars.
In May 1967 29 Squadron arrived at Wattisham with their new mounts, Lightning F3s, operating QRA (Quick Reaction Alert) as required from the QRA sheds near the runway 23 threshold.
29 Squadron departed Wattisham in December 1974 to convert to the Phantom FGR2.
