1981 to 1989: The Bloodhound

In September 1981, 25 (SAM) Squadron “C” Flight arrived from RAF Laarbruch, West Germany and became 85 (SAM) Squadron “E” Flight, to form part of the airfield defences with it’s Bloodhound missiles. In April 1983 “E” Flight was replaced by “C” Fight. The flight was disbanded in July 1989 after a number of Squadron changes when the Bloodhound was taken out of service.
